Force-Length Curve
Short definition
Relationship between muscle force and length; peak force occurs near optimal length.
Full definition
The force-length curve describes how active muscle force depends on fiber length. Force peaks near optimal fiber length and decreases when fibers shorten or stretch. In Hill-type models it is represented by the normalized active-force-length curve.
Examples
At a 90° elbow angle the biceps is near its optimal length.
