Anaerobic Threshold

MIDA

Short definition

Anaerobic threshold — intensity above which lactate accumulates faster than it is cleared.

Full definition

The anaerobic threshold (AnT, often OBLA at 4 mmol/L) is the intensity at which lactate production exceeds clearance, leading to acidosis. It is an endurance marker: higher AnT (as % of max) means better aerobic fitness.

Examples

Anaerobic threshold at 75 % of max HR.
