Occlusion

Blood Flow Occlusion

MIDA

Short definition

Partial restriction of muscle blood flow to amplify metabolic stress.

Full definition

Occlusion (BFR — blood flow restriction) partially blocks venous return with a cuff during exercise, amplifying metabolite accumulation (H+, lactate) and stimulating hypertrophy at low loads; modelled in MIDA as a stress factor.

Examples

BFR training at 30 % 1RM with a 180 mmHg cuff.
