Rigid Tendon

Biomechanics

Short definition

Simplified muscle model with a non-deforming tendon — fiber length is a function of the musculotendon length.

Full definition

With a rigid tendon the tendon does not stretch, so fiber length is fully determined by the musculotendon length and joint angle. This speeds and simplifies simulations but ignores tendon elastic energy.

Examples

A rigid-tendon model is convenient for fast static calculations.
