Isometric

Biomechanics

Short definition

Isometric contraction — the muscle produces force without changing length.

Full definition

Isometric contraction occurs when the muscle is active but its length and joint angle are constant (static hold). It is the basis of Samson-fit training: %MVC, duration and joint angle can be precisely dosed.

Examples

Isometric hold at 70 %MVC for 12 seconds.
