Resonance (mechanical)

Biomechanics

Short definition

Sharp amplitude growth when the eccentric rotation frequency coincides with a natural frequency.

Full definition

Resonance occurs when the excitation frequency approaches a natural frequency: the dynamic amplification factor peaks and amplitudes grow sharply. In VibroTheory the scheme’s resonance frequencies (assembly modes and musculoskeletal resonance) are marked on the sweep chart; the working frequency is chosen away from them. If none fall inside 10–200 Hz, the full numerical list is printed below the chart.

Examples

At 45.5 Hz the hand force grows several times.
