Muscle Activation

Biomechanics

Short definition

Fraction of maximum force the muscle currently produces.

Full definition

Activation — a normalized force level (0..1): a=1 is maximum force, a=0 relaxation. In Hill models it sets the contractile-element contribution; in static optimization it is the variable solved for (find a_i so the weighted sum yields the demanded torque, minimizing Σ a_i²). In MIDA it is mapped to %MVV and then to the MI/DA intensities.

Examples

Activation 0.7 — 70 % MVC in the hold.
